I remember Bridie well as a Theatre student at Victoria University, and as an actor in two plays I directed. Her engagement with the subject, her absolute commitment to supporting others, and her good humour, energy, and ability to listen carefully will all stand her in good stead as a drama teacher. She has experience and understanding of both classic and modern drama, of both the history and practice of the stage, and of the importance of both the individual and the group. Enjoyment of theatre games and exercises is crucial also, and I am sure Bridie’s teaching will be both enjoyable and productive for all. I wish her every success.
Bridie was and is one of the most hard-working students I have ever taught. She is dedicated to performing to the best of her ability – which is huge. She studied up to Grade 7 Trinity College London Drama Examinations with me and passes all exams with flying colours.
She has a warm, caring personality and I was sad to lose her when I moved up to Tauranga from Palmerston North. We have now re-connected and I am very impressed with the way she has moved forward, attending Victoria University in Wellington, gaining a well-earned degree, and already teaching Speech and Drama to young students.
I can only say that the world would be a wonderful place if it was full of young people like Bridie Schroder. I cannot commend her too highly.
Bridie Schroder is the ideal person to run a Drama Club for school children. She is intelligent, lively and deeply committed to the value of drama, literature and public speaking. She has spent several years studying English literature and theatre at university and I can vouch for her enthusiasm and her ability to communicate that enthusiasm to others. She is also skilled at teaching young people how to communicate clearly to others and participate in group activities. Bridie has a passionate commitment to drama, New Zealand culture, and the fostering of skills in the young. Children and young people will benefit from the courses she has to offer and will enjoy the experience.
