The after school drama classes run for between 40 minutes. The classes are organised by school year level so that children are working with peers at the same/similar levels. Children attend one class each week. Classes are held at the Beauchamp Street Chapel and upstairs at the Karori Bridge Club. The classes are $18.50 (excl. GST) per week.
Trinity College Examinations: Children (Year 4+) have the option of sitting solo examinations. We work on pieces during the year and the examinations are held in September. Children (Year 4 and below) have the option of sitting a group examination. Please let me know if you are interested in sitting a Trinity College Examination.
Venue: Drama Club is held at the Karori Bridge Club. We have two studios operating in the building – one upstairs and one on the ground floor.
Term One: Growing Strong Voices and Mime
Students will be learning the basics of performing on a stage. Majority of the students will be focusing on vocal work while some of the students will be focusing on a more physical approach.
Term Two: Characterisation
Students learn how to create a character by changing their walk, voice, posture and facial expressions.
Term Three: Playbuilding/Exam preparation
Students will have a chance to revise their examination work. Students, who aren’t sitting an examination, will work on short scripts with a partner.
Term Four: Scripted Plays
Students begin to understand the basics of stage presence and perform in an end of year play. This play is performed with all the Drama Club pupils and family/friends are invited to the performance.
